OPEN AN EYE

A great day starts
When you open an eye.
Then slowly, the other
As you let out a sigh.
There’s every good reason
To spread out your wings.
We put on our shorts
As a yellow bird sings.
The weather won’t matter.
You’re bound to have fun.
Whether a cloud drips down rain
Or sky’s filled by sun.

There are reasons we’re happy
It is easy to tell.
Let’s skip down the street
And toss penny’s in the well.
Watch the dogs tail
As it wags to and fro.
We’ll dance to a rhythm
That only we know.

The first day of many more days they call summer.
Three months,
Two weeks
One day
What a bummer
There can’t be more days like today.
